India covers area of 3,287,263 sq.
km. and is divided into 29 states. The country can be divided into five
regions: Western, Central, Northern (including Kashmir and Rajasthan),
Eastern and Southern.
It shares borders to the north with
China, Nepal and Bhutan, to the east with Bangladesh, Myanmar and
northwest with Pakistan. To the west lies the Arabian Sea, to the east
the Bay of Bengal and to the south the Indian Ocean.
Hindi
is the official language of India, while English is the business
language. In addition, other languages recognized by the Constitution
are Punjabi, Bengali, Gujarati and Oriya, Tamil, Telegu, Marathi,
Kannada, Malayalam and the Muslim population largely speak Urdu.
