Gokyo Lake is located immediately west of the Khumbu valley, it is much less traveled or developed than the main trail. The Gokyo valley is dominated at its head by the massive Cho-Oyu (8153 meters). From Gokyo we ascend to Gokyo Ri (2 hours) for some spectacular views before heading out westward to Renjo-La pass.
